SYDNEY--Current Ideas International Limited (IDEAS, ASX:IDE) Non-Executive Director, Mr. Ian Birks, has been appointed by the Australian Government Minister for Industry, Innovation, Science & Research, Senator the Hon. Kim Carr to Chair the Government’s IT Industry Innovation Council.
Mr Birks commented that he “Welcomed the opportunity to work closely in partnership with the IT industry, research, academia and government agencies to progress the significant contribution that the local IT industry can make to improved innovations driving better economic, social and community outcomes”.
The Australian Government has established eight Industry Innovation Councils covering a number of industries. The Councils contribute to building an innovation culture in Australia. They provide strategic advice on innovation priorities to the Minister, champion innovation in industry and build connections and collaborate across Councils and with other innovation initiatives.
The IT Industry Innovation Council was previously chaired by Data#3 Limited CEO, Mr. John Grant.
Mr. Birks has been a Director of Ideas International since December 1988.
